What if the space I am installing my pool table has a pole or column in the way? You do have choices to work with here. First off, if you go too short on the room for the table it is going to annoy you every time you play. Will a floor joist or column affect play; Yes of course, but only under a small percentage of the table typically. Of course it is nothing to the extent of having a full wall too close. If you have a civil engineer in the family, or are building a house to suit it may be a wise idea to discuss the pool table weight and location with them. Moving a floor joist is not difficult, it is the reinforcing that is you need professional advice on. It is better to be safe in this case, than sorry.
