You are looking around online for information on buying a used pool table; otherwise you probably wouldn’t be here. The first question we ask perspective customers who are shopping for a table is what they are looking for. This is obviously a very broad stroke, but important so we find the right table for you.  Depending on whatever usage you have in mind (kids, recreation, entertaining, style) there will be pool tables that do not fit.  Below are a few examples.

Kids table; Budget minded from freebies to $1000, basic construction since they are going to be abused! Don’t expect a return on investment here.

Recreation; Budget varies from $500-1500, for a solid table that you can have fun on you can get a lot for the money especially if you are flexible on aesthetics. Function over form, and chances are you can sell for what you paid (minus the move/cloth costs).

Entertaining; Budget starts $2000 and can reach into the teens, depending on the specifics you can pay a reasonable amount for a nice looking stylish piece that just happens to be mass produced in China. American made pool tables cost a premium, as do Belgium and German. Construction techniques and materials vary based on price point. For this category the budget is a vital part of the search for the right table. Full framed and top grade hardwood tables do fetch a premium, but name brands do increase dramatically. You are buying a functional piece of furniture, resale is readily available but the market is flooded so they are tough to move at a fair price. Generally a used higher end table will only resell for ½ to 1/3 the original purchase price. This can be a smart way to buy a high end table for a recreation table price!

Style; Budget varies the most here of all the groups listed. We have stumbled upon some terrific pool tables at near criminal prices just being in the right place at the right time. Matching a buyer in the market is the most time consuming. Leave plenty of time to find the right table, or be prepared to have a table built custom.
